Consumer Units

The consumer unit is the heart of the electrical installation and the modern 18th Edition consumer unit gives far greater protection than the old fuse boards or old plastic consumer units.

The latest consumer units we fit have a metal case, RCD protection for all circuits and surge protection, giving the customer far more protection.

We can even fit Arc Fault Detection Devices for the highest level of protection.

The fact is some old fuse boards may contain asbestos and have become a liability and simply don’t meet modern health and safety requirements.

Replacing a fuse board or consumer unit is a job that should only be done by qualified experienced electricians, please don’t try it yourself or ask someone who cannot provide all the certificates.

Our electricians have years of experience in replacing consumer units and we provide electrical and Part P certification.

Inspection and Testing

We are dedicated in helping you ensure that your electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition. We examine all installations for compliance with the latest British Standards ‘BS 7671 IEE Wiring Regulations’.

Due to a number of factors, damage, wear and tear, excessive loading and ageing all electrical installations deteriorate. By testing, existing faults can be identified and then corrected. Also any possible faults can be prevented emitting loss of electricity and down time.

The new Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) replaces the previous Periodic Inspection Report (PIR).

When to consider an Electrical Installation Condition Report:

  • Change of ownership
  • Change of tenancy
  • Change of the use of premises
  • To verify continued compliance with BS 7671
  • To comply with insurance companies

To meet your health and safety requirements and comply with:

  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (Mandatory Conditions of Licences) (England)Regulations 2018
